Friday, 20 December 2013

Sipped my coffee
warm heat
sugar but no sweetness
mug personalised
though bereft of meaning
now, passed
like you and me
or bagless tea.

how have i hurt thee,
censored are the ways.
in desperation mocked,
a mode of life you too know well,
the things in me you then loved best
now smash beyond your future mask.
huddled round the screen
'you freak' i hear.
i loathe the world in which you live,
obscene to turn such human ears.

memory
and
desire unbloomed,
dissolving
like fake snow.
merging with tiger spawned
riddles and tunes,
unhinged
my faith in Christmas is.
it's now I see you sing,
dangling,
hopeless in suspended key -
Santa Claus is coming to town.

Monday, 2 December 2013

i imagine you now
transcending
whatever we have lost.
dissolving memories
in a puff of cigarette smoke
and the spark of a plastic lighter.
inhaling all the life from me,
blowing out
glowing into another self.
I light your face
with a strike of the last match,
and watch
frozen
as the flame
flickers and dies out.
a small tenement toilet sparks into life
my fondest love.
there i showered whilst you dried your hair
and made yourself up.
a queer little room
i felt soothed by the lack of motion
against the cruel busy mess outside the missing window.
he often brought treats back from work;
pork pies, flapjacks and cakes.
insatiable appitites both,
we kissed as lovers do
with no surrender to undefeatable time.
time and time again.
washing, eating, fucking: love.
